Puzzle #4: Solution (irrational square root of 2)

Sorry for not posting yesterday! With the relaxed days of winter break long gone, we’ve decided to drop down to just 2 puzzles a week for the time being. Hopefully by doing this we can fill our goal of presenting quality, if not quantity (ack! cliche!).

Being tired and lazy tonight, here is the link to the proofs on Wikipedia. I highly suggest the one labeled, “Proof by Infinite Descent.” It’s what I would have used. It’s a nice example of Reductio Ad Absurdem. I probably would have made the proof slightly more understandable, and of course I’m happy to answer any questions to those who don’t understand the lingo. See the the sidebar for email link.
